There are many people who choose to give back to their community, and one of those special beings is here in the world today to not only give back, but to also leave an incredible mark on the lives of others, meet Tamsy.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Tamsy has a high niche in food, and with her success as a content creator, she has decided to shine a luminous light on the beautiful hidden gems discovered. Ideally, the act of serving others is believed to be acutely related to living with purpose, and while for some people, helping others is not always the number one aspiration, for Tamsy, it is a dream come true.

Tamsy is a person who genuinely loves helping others. As she explores the beautiful world, she uses her Instagram and Tiktok known as @TamLovesToEat to help those who may be in need of gaining traction. Her socials are known to be based on food, travel, and lifestyle, and whether she is trying a new restaurant, touring a new city, or dropping a photo dump while at an event of value, she works to create opportunities for others. Specifically, Tamsy works to help new businesses, and businesses who are struggling, stay solvent by allowing her platform to operate as an exhibition of their uniqueness and service given.

As she shows her audience the overall experience of each business, she finds herself saturated in joy due to seeing the positive effect of helping others. In her very own words, Tamsy states, "Throughout my time as a content creator, businesses have told me how greatly my content has positively affected their business growth in sales and awareness, and I absolutely love that I can use my love for content and my platform to help others' businesses afloat and keep food on their family's table." As Tamsy takes the initiative to use her success to help others within her community, we see a true example of leadership and influence, which is oftentimes easier said than done.

Service has always been a special part of Tamsy. In addition to being a life-changing content creator, she is a full-time Registered Nurse with experience in Emergency Medicine and Surgery Recovery of 10 years. She is inspired to help educate the people within her community to alleviate any uncertainty or fear. This is imperative. Being a nurse of 10 years, Tamsy shares her firsthand experience, "...I have learned that education sometimes lacks in the people that walk through the hospital doors and with lack of education can bring fear. Being a knowledgeable healthcare provider, I enjoy educating people on health concerns as well as assisting in treatment to bring them in a better health state and sometimes a better mental state to feel secure." In addition, she makes sure to answer all questions that any patient may have to further help them. Consequently, she sparkles with merriment and feels deep gladness knowing that she was able to contribute to the well-being of another human being.

Throughout Tamsy's journey of working with people, she has discovered that there is a true gem inside of everyone, and the more their gems truly shine, the more connected everyone feels amidst each other. Why? Tamsy says that what truly matters to people is "authenticity and honesty." Furthermore, she says, "As a creative on social media, I find that me being my true authentic self and not trying to follow trends or mimic other people have truly helped me go far. A lot of people are copy and paste or have no personality at all. People love authenticity because it’s so rare to find online." This is true. People are more inclined to those who are authentic because it is truth, and people want just that. They do not want to be in a space that is fake, for it lacks connectivity and genuineness. Authenticity is the reason why some communities tend to flourish, because it matters to people. It's the same honesty that one sees and feels when witnessing an artist create music or a dancer create moves with such deep expression, which then produces connectivity. People are more driven towards what is real versus something that is uncertain or dishonest.

Speaking of communities, Tamsy describes the beauty seen within her own, the beautiful and authentic NOLA. After visiting different places across the US, she finds that there is no place like New Orleans–agreed. To further express the beauty of her community, Tamsy says, "We are vibrant, energetic and warm to say the least. We welcome strangers with open arms, we secondline for literally any occasion, and baby, we eat GOOD. The community is so cultured from the delicious food made with the holy trinity, artwork mural, and the jazz and bounce music you hear on random corners"–ABSOLUTELY. We love to know that in a city already flavored with beauty, there are people residing there who enhance not only the beauty, but the heart as well.

Speaking of the heart of the city, we know the youth of today is a generation that will lead the generations to come. Needless to say, it is important for us to help guide them in the same ways our elders guided us, or in even newer ways. With that being said, Tamsy would like to see a change within her community. Specifically, she would like to see an act of help, reformation, to ameliorate the negative effects on the youth due to the lack of resources. She states, "When I was younger they had so many after school and summer programs to help educate, guide, and mentor the youth into adulthood. I feel as though with the changes of time, we have slowly shifted away from prioritizing the youth leading them to wander around with no guidance and no motivation that can cause self destruction." Tamsy hopes to see a change that can create better opportunities for the youth. We hope to see that change as well.

As we come to a close, Tamsy shared a story with us that is so beautiful and heartfelt that we decided to let her tell you herself:

"Let me tell you a story that made me tear up.–I had never told my parents that I do social media content outside of my nursing career. because I assumed they wouldn’t understand it. I had been hiding it for over 5 years. However, a few months ago, my dad randomly stopped me and told me “I heard you are famous.” I replied “What are you talking about?” in confusion, but in the back of my head, I was like "omg I think he knows." He told me one of his friends showed him my Instagram page @TamLovesToEat and said that I am a big food reviewer in New Orleans and go to different restaurants to try their food. Then he said “I’m so proud of you. You are doing a great job.” I literally teared up, because all this time, I’ve been so afraid to tell my parents. Being that they are Nigerian parents, they don’t believe in social media nor doing anything outside of working in healthcare or engineering. My family, especially my husband, are some of my biggest supporters that keep me going each day."

WE LOVE IT TAMSY. What a beautiful story. It's also inspiring because it says to people that no matter what you do in life, it's all about how you apply yourself! Whether you are an influencer, a painter, a biologist, or a professor, your success is truly measured by how you apply yourself today.

Tamsy also pays homage to her friends that are also content creators as she expresses how they root for her at all times. They "lift me whenever I have imposter syndrome and want to see me win by mentioning my name in networking rooms without me being present. My support system is strong and I love them for that." It's imperative to have a strong support group!

Lastly, one crucial step to giving back is making sure we, ourselves, are taken care of as well. Mental health helps us to preserve mental energy. It helps us to think clearly and strategically as we build ways to help others. Taking care of ourselves allows us to properly take care of the next person. Tamsy sees mental health as an important tool. She believes that it is important to focus on your own wellbeing. She expresses how she maintains mental health. She gives herself a day or two to do what she wants to do. That includes binging her favorite Netflix series, "The Resident" while "indulging in a bottle of wine." However, she also expresses how sometimes, she does nothing at all while lying in bed scrolling through funny TikTok videos. She says, "having “me time” has always been a priority for me and it’s a great way to reset my mind and start fresh." This is such an important topic. Sometimes, we feel guilty when lying in bed, binging shows, or just taking a break to do nothing at all. It's all in good health because you know after that 2-day break, it's back to the grind, back to being of service, and back to helping others all while feeling rejuvenated.

Thank you Tamsy for sharing your story with us! Thank you for doing what you do for your community and the world today, and thank you for doing it authentically.

With love,
